I am Giorgio Mauri. My background combines sculpture and the new technologies of visual arts. My work is about turning ideas into reality. Each project starts with a mark on paper and grows into something concrete, to be experienced.

Here is a selection of the most ambitious projects I am currently developing. They include Metavision Museum, a 3D museum prototype created for the online experience of impossible works; I Am Wrath, a historical dark fantasy comic saga; and Undercover, the award-winning card game that received first prize in the unpublished works category at Lucca Comics, designed by Giacomo Bellotti.
As an artist, I believe in the power of images and the imagination's ability to create new worlds. The possibilities are only as limited as our belief in them. This website has evolved from the simple idea that everything is possible, just as these images may inspire your imagination and shape your world.
How many times have we heard about the demons that dwell within the human soul? How many times has History revealed this darkside? The Crusades shattered the life Gabriel had built for himself. Will he be able to preserve his purity of soul amidst the evil that has shaped History?
Towards the end of the 12th century, the sacred city of Jerusalem was under Crusader rule. Jordan had been ravaged by nearly a century of warfare. After numerous clashes and mutual efforts from both sides, a truce was established between Saladin and Baldwin IV, the leper king of Jerusalem, although it wouldn’t last. For too long the demons that dwelled in the soul of man were allowed to thrive.
exploreMy technique begins with quick preliminary pen sketches on paper to establish the general layout of the page. These drawings are then refined using digital illustration techniques, following several stages including preliminary clean-up of the sketch, line art, base colors, and chromatic depth. Throughout this process, careful attention is paid not only to the composition of each individual scene, but also to the overall layout of the page—balancing visual weights, color dynamics, and guiding lines to help lead the reader’s eye naturally through the narrative.
In the context of "IAW", the Real and Spiritual worlds are in constant collision. Given the project's nature as a Historical Dark Fantasy, I conducted both historical and biblical–folkloric research. Since I needed to merge these heterogeneous sources into a single coherent narrative and to create characters with plausible internal logic in line with these foundations. I opted for a visual style that is both “academic” and “gritty”, reflecting the brutality of the events portrayed. Below are a few character study and sketches that illustrate the clash and convergence between the real and the imagined. You may notice details in an occult language, used to enhance immersion in this fascinating and ruthless world.
